Food Project

The food that I chose are swiss rolls. Swiss rolls are rolled up sponge cakes usually filled with jam, icing, or whipped cream. The taste can vary since there are many flavours, such as vanilla, chocolate, or macha. It is not fully known where they originated from but historians believe it originated from central Europe, possibly from Austria. It first appeared in the Northern Farmer, a journal published in 1852 where it describes a recipe. Swiss rolls spread to other countries by influence of the British Empire, and now each country has its own style of swiss rolls. I like swiss rolls because it is a fun, quick snack and i enjoy trying many different flavours of swiss rolls.
